Coconut oil has many amazing health and beauty benefits. When it's cold pressed, it multiplies its goodness. Cold pressed coconut oils are easily available in the market. But have you ever thought of making it your own in your kitchen. So let's see how to do it.
Take upto 6 coconuts & grate it.In a grinder put the grated coconuts & enough water. Grind it well. Now we have to strain the mixture. A strainer or a cotton cloth can be used to extract the coconut milk. The extracted coconut milk can be transferred into a bowl. You can add more water into the coconut pulp & extract more milk the same way. Now keep the bowl in refrigerator for 2 to 3 hours. If you want you can keep it overnight also.
After 2 to 3 hours take out the bowl from refrigerator. We can see a thick layer of frozen coconut cream on top of the bowl. Now using a spoon collect only the cream, leaving the water behind. Transfer it into another bowl.
Now take some water in a bowl & keep it on a low flame. Into this boiling water keep the bowl which contains the coconut cream. This is called double boiling method. Stir the cream occasionally. After sometimes you can see that the oil is forming from the cream. When it turns a slightly brown color take it out from the flame.
Once it becomes cool you can use a strainer or cheesecloth to extract the pure oil.
