Are you a tea lover? The freshness  and energy feeling a cup of tea provides is impeccable especially during a hectic day. Green tea and black tea are more familiar ones to many of us. But have you heard about Blue Tea?  A very healthy variant made with Butterfly Pea Flower. Because of the beautiful blue hue the flower imparts into the water, gives it the name Blue Tea. Butterfly pea flower is known by the names Asian pigeon wings, blue bellvine, blue pea, Shankupushpam etc. There are mainly two varieties ; blue and white.

Blue Tea

Blue tea has a sweet and earthy flavor so there's no worry about the taste it has. So let's see how to prepare Blue Tea.

Water - 4 cups
Butterfly pea flower - 8 numbers
Lemon juice - juice of ½ lemon
Honey - to taste

Boil the water and add flowers. When the water turns to Blue color turn off the stove and remove flowers. Add lemon juice into the tea. When it cools down a bit, add honey as per taste. Adding honey will help the body to absorb the goodness of the tea faster.

It's always good to prepare Blue tea in earthen pots.

Studies show that Blue tea can ease stress and anxiety to a good extent. It also helps to have a relaxed sleep at night.

Studies have shown that the Blue Tea can assist with memory and brain functions as the Butterfly pea flower helps increase Acetylcholine, a neuro transmitter.

Blue Tea can be used to relieve cold, cough and asthma. It helps to clear the mucus from nostrils, lungs and trachea.
