The quality seems top notch. I use it as a substitute for Tamarind and it has worked well in most dishes so far. I read about its numerous health benefits and wanted to try it out and happy to report that its taste doesn’t seem off and it blends well with most Indian dishes especially south Indian ones. A little goes a long way and it seems to be authentic without any chemicals or preservatives.

Honest to god, real brindleberry like from the tree in our backyard in Kayanguzham, Alleppy!! Delighted! Great for fish curry and a wonderful substitute for tamarind which I am allergic to.

1) The package was received on time and was packaged decently enough.
2) The kumdampuli is quite good in quality and of the perfect size and has the desired smell and taste.
3)This has worked really well with fish curry and other dishes as well.

We use this at a quarter pod for two bowls and half pod for 4 bowls of daal.
It really adds a great flavour. It’s not overly tangy like imli or lemon. It’s a little subtle and also adds a smoky flavour.
